Around 450 flights to and from Amsterdam have been cancelled today as the city’s Schiphol Airport continues to struggles with freezing conditions.
Included in the cancellations are easyJet flights to and from multiple UK regional airports and British Airways’ flights to and from London Heathrow, among others.
Worst hit is Dutch airline KLM, which issued a statement this morning saying it had cancelled 300 flights today and warned that the number might increase.
The disruption looks likely to ease from mid-morning, with most flights scheduled to operate, but some passengers will endure long delays throughout the day.
No trains are currently running in the Amsterdam area due to the weather conditions.
Today’s disruption follows a weekend of cancellations at Schiphol, caused by what KLM described on Saturday as ‘winter weather and an unfavourable wind direction’.
The airline said passengers will be booked on the next available flight.
Meanwhile, Loganiar has cancelled dozens of flights at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness today due to an ongoing yellow weather warning from the Met Office.
