Branch manager retires after 47 years with Premier Travel

Premier Travel has thanked Haverhill branch Manager Steven Woodley for nearly five decades of service, after he announced his retirement.

Steven, 66, started his career in 1977, joining Thetford Travel, which was taken over by Premier Travel the following year.

He became Assistant Manager at Premier Travel in Saffron Walden in early 1981, before being promoted to Branch Manager in his hometown of Haverhill in September that year, and has stayed there ever since.

In a Facebook post, Premier Travel thanked Steven for his ‘hard wok and countless memories’, adding: “He’ll be greatly missed by colleagues and customers alike.”

Managing Director Paul Waters said: “Steven has been an integral part of Premier Travel for nearly five decades, a true cornerstone of the business.

“Having spent many of those years at our Haverhill branch, Steven has done a tremendous job, building lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike.

“His knowledge, commitment, and warmth have left a lasting impression on everyone who’s had the pleasure of working with him.”

Steven told local newspaper Suffolk News he has ‘always showed an interest’ in his clients.

“I’ve prided myself on always making sure I give the clients the best deal, the best thing for them,” he said.

“I will miss talking to the customers, more than anything.”
