Birmingham Airport to lose two flights from the end of the summer

Brussels Airlines has dropped flights from Birmingham to the Belgian capital, which it reintroduced last year.

The six-flights-a-week service had previously been suspended to allow Brussels Airlines to focus on more profitable routes.

Flights to Birmingham were reinstated in October 2024, but they have been dropped from Brussels Airlines’ winter 2025/26 and summer ’26 schedules.

Currently, Brussels is the only airline connecting Birmingham with the Belgian capital.

A Brussels Airlines’ spokesperson said: “Like many airlines, we constantly review our network. At the beginning of every season, some destinations might see higher frequencies and we might decrease capacity to some other markets.

“In that light, we have indeed decided not to offer Birmingham anymore as of winter 25. We stay active in the United Kingdom with flights to Manchester, Edinburgh and London. Birmingham remains in the portfolio of other Lufthansa Group carriers, ensuring connectivity for the region.”

Brussels Airlines also appears to have suspended flights from Edinburgh between 1 December and 12 February, leaving only Ryanair on the route.

Meanwhile, Vueling is not currently selling seats on its Birmingham to Barcelona service beyond 25 October 2025.

It is the only direct service the IAG-owned airline operates from Birmingham, but there are no flights available to book on its website from the end of this season. EasyJet, Ryanair and Jet2.com offer alternative flights to Barcelona from Birmingham.

Travel Gossip has approached Vueling for confirmation.
