Baggage screeners at London Gatwick Airport who were planning to strike over the August bank holiday have suspended their walkout after receiving an improved pay offer.
The Unite union has called off strikes that had been due to take place from 22-26 August.
The workers, who are employed by ICTS, will be balloted on the new offer over the coming days.
If the offer is rejected, a second round of strike action from 29 August-2 September will go ahead as planned.
Unite Regional Officer Ben Davis said: “Following an improved offer from ICTS, Unite has suspended strikes in order to ballot its members.”
The union previously warned of ‘severe delays’ if the strikes went ahead
