England is through to the last 16 in the FIFA World Cup but operators say flights and ticket availability for the team’s next match, in Mexico, are tight.
Travelpack Director Vishal Patel said enquiries are building since the operator started putting out social media posts on Wednesday evening, immediately after England beat Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1.
England’s next match is against Mexico in Mexico City on 5 July.
Travelpack’s social posts said: “This is more than just a match – it’s a World Cup knockout under the lights at the world-famous Estadio Azteca, a venue that has witnessed some of the greatest moments in football history.”
Vishal told Travel Gossip: “Last night we had lots of social interaction, the number of enquiries was not as high as we were hoping for. More have come in this morning, which we are happy with. Flights and availability is tight and almost certain to increase sharply through the day.
“Demand for match day tickets is extremely high from Mexican fans,” he said.
Travelpack has launched a three-night package, including category three or category four official tickets, accommodation at the Radisson Paraiso Hotel Mexico City and flights from London and Manchester from £7,399 per person.
It’s also added a 10-night package, flying out on 4 July, with five nights in Mexico City, then five nights in Miami for the quarter final. This package is only available until 1pm today (Thursday 2 July), after which Travelpack will re-evaluate pricing and availability.
Sports ticket and hospitality specialist Vedere Travel block booked hospitality passes in a range of different locations in anticipation of England’s win.
Managing Director Alex Catton said: “England v Mexico in Mexico is huge. For this game in particular, a lot of our clients pre-empted the result and there was lots of interest early this week and late last week.”
Hospitality tickets for England v Mexico with Vedere start at £3,000 and go up to £5,000. Alex said some clients are already out in the US, while others have booked packages from the UK.
“We have pretty much sold our allocation. We have four left and we’re talking to a client who’s looking to take the final four.
“Once we have sold out, we have sold out. We only deal with FIFA. I have seen black market tickets on sale for £5,000, but we don’t get involved in that.”
Meanwhile, the UK Foreign Office (FCDO) updated its information for Brits travelling to Mexico for the World Cup. The update includes a reference to the deaths of three people from suffocation during World Cup celebrations in Mexico City on Tuesday when one million people took to the streets, mainly around the Angel of Independence monument in downtown, to mark the country’s first World Cup knockout win since 1986.
The FCDO said: “Mexico is co-hosting the 2026 World Cup which takes place between 11 June and 19 July. England play Mexico at Estadio Cuidad de Mexico (Mexico City Stadium) in Mexico City on 5 July 2026.
“If you are planning to travel to Mexico during the World Cup, see the World Cup page for more information and read our Mexico travel advice in full, including the ‘Warnings and insurance’, ‘Entry requirements’ and ‘Safety and security’ pages.”
The FCDO also warned reports of mobile phone theft and drink-spiking have increased during the tournament.
Finally, it said: “If you plan to return to the USA for a subsequent match, and your passport is lost or stolen, an Emergency Travel Document provided by the British Embassy cannot be used to re-enter the USA from Mexico.”
