Airline warns of possible disruption when Storm Eowyn hits UK

Jet2 is warning customers its flights might be disrupted from tomorrow and into the weekend due to ‘stormy conditions’.

The Met Office has issued a red severe weather warning for large areas of the UK as Storm Éowyn bears down.

It is warning of severe gales in the parts of Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, and in Northern Ireland until 5pm on Friday.

The Met Office said Storm Éowyn will bring ‘very strong winds’ and ‘very dangerous conditions’, causing ‘significant disruption’ to these areas tomorrow.

It is warning severe gales are likely around Irish Sea coasts, with gusts of up to 90mph.

Heavy rain and hill snow will also spread eastwards across the UK, it said.

There are amber warnings in place across much of northern England, including Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle, and yellow warnings for the rest of the UK.

In an update on its website, Jet2 said: “The Met Office has warned that there will be stormy conditions, at times, in parts of the UK from Friday and into the weekend.

“If you are travelling with Jet2.com we plan to operate our flights as close to schedule as possible, unless advised, however, there may be some disruption should the weather deteriorate.

“We advise all customers to check in as scheduled (our check in desks close 40 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time) and our friendly Red Teams in the terminal will keep you up to date.”
