Florida-based Silver Airways suddenly cancelled all its flights on Wednesday after selling its assets to another carrier.
The airline, which operated flights to, from and within Florida, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Caribbean islands, had been seeking a buyer since last year.
In a statement released on Wednesday, it said it had entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, which had decided not to continue Silver’s flights in Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
“Please do not go to the airport,” Silver Airways added. “All credit card purchases should be refunded through your credit card company or your travel agency.”
Silver, which entered US Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the end of 2024 to allow it to restructure, halved its fleet earlier this year and stopped services to and from Orlando in March.
The grounding of the remainder of its flights comes just weeks after tourism chiefs in the Caribbean warned that a lack of services and high air fares was impacting travel.
