Air Sierra Leone appoints UK sales agent ahead of UK launch

Air Sierra Leone has appointed a General Sales Agent (GSA) in the UK as it prepares to launch flights between London and Freetown this summer.

The flights will restore the air link between the UK and Sierra Leone, which was severed when British Airways grounded its flights to Freetown during the pandemic.

GSA Airline Pros International said Air Sierra Leone, a new, private airline, will offer three flights a week between Gatwick and Freetown, starting on 16 June.

A special inaugural flight will operate on 27 April to commemorate Sierra Leone’s Independence Day.

The seven-hour flights will be operated by UK-based Ascend Airways using a Boeing 737 Max, with all economy seating.

Currently, bookings are only available online at flysierraleone, com, but Airline Pros said there are plans to develop B2B and GDS distribution. “We will be sharing details and plans for our travel agent community as soon as these are available,” added Regional Managing Partner Northern Europe Linzi Barber.

The flights will depart from Gatwick on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays and return from Freetown on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
