Agents are reporting stellar sales, with one describing last Friday as the ‘Peak of all Peaks’.
The momentum was summed up by homeworker Zoe Pope, who posted on Travel Gossip’s Facebook group on Friday: “Anyone else feel like today has been the Peak of all Peaks?!”
Agents agreed, saying ‘100%’ and ‘it definitely was’. One agent replied to say: “Love this phrase. That’s one way to put it!” Another described Friday as ‘a very busy day,” and another said: “I personally am shattered and looking forward to a night off.”
Zoe, who runs Take the Family in Norwich, told Travel Gossip: “My first couple of weeks in January were very busy with lots of complex itineraries and back and forth with customers but I wasn’t really getting anywhere with them. Last week was the same – until Thursday, when lots of them seemed to come back either wanting to book or asking for re-quotes and nothing was simple. I got into bed on Friday night and I felt utterly exhausted, but it had been a great day.”
New bookings for Zoe include a family of 17 to an Iberostar hotel in Tenerife, large family bookings to Crete at Easter and Sardinia this summer, as well as a Maldives holiday with business class flights.
Agent Pauline Norris commented on Zoe’s post to say: “The last two weeks have been crazy.” She told Travel Gossip: “I have had a really busy January so far with lots more quotes coming in over the weekend to send out today.”
Pauline said she’s made three Orlando bookings so far in January, one for next month and two for 2026. Other bookings include a big family booking to Lapland and a big villa booking for Rhodes.
Andy Tomlinson, Managing Director of Sutton Travel in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, said sales have been busy for the past two weeks.
“Fridays have been our busiest/best days of the week for new sales. We’re 10% up on January 2024 for this month so far, so I’m pleased with how things have been, without it ever seeming completely manic at any stage, mainly due to a very high enquiry to booking conversion rate.”
Laura Featonby, who runs Laura’s Travel Village in Greater Manchester, described Peaks as: “A slog.” She said: “I had a fantastic December and I’m super busy with enquiries this week But I would say January never changes. You work hard as there are more lookers than bookers. I did four bookings on Saturday but only two in the week. I’ve still got great commission earned and that’s the bottom line.”
Craig Goodridge-Hurley, who runs Craig Goodridge Travel in Sheffield, said: “The month overall has been good for sure. I’m ahead of where I was last year with a week still to go.”
