Agent reveals plan for third store as he picks up keys to his second

Adore Holidays & Cruises is looking for three new staff members for the opening of its second store.

Owner Ian Gilder said he is also planning to open a third shop, hopefully later in 2025.

The company, which started as a calls centre more than 14 years ago, opened its first shop, in Epping, Essex three years ago.

Ian picked up the keys to the second shop, which will employ three staff members, in Horbury, West Yorkshire, on Saturday and he is looking to recruit a retail shop manager, a full or part-time travel advisor, and an apprentice to staff it.

“We do have our eyes on a third shop, which hopefully will be at some point this year,” added Ian. The business also still operates a calls centre, with five home-based staff.

Ian, pictured above with travel advisor Robyn Painter, left, and apprentice Mia Armstrong, right, said he had chosen to expand into Yorkshire as it’s close to the home of Adore General Manager Liz Robinson-Williams, who knows the market well after previously working for Co-op Travel in the area.

“Now we are a high street agent, we have seen the massive potential in other areas to attract luxury, longhaul and cruise clients,” he added.

Ian said the third shop for the business, which is continuing to focus on cruises, including specialist Grand Prix cruise holidays, will be closer to Epping.

Another independent agency, Seaside Travel, has confirmed plans for its 12th shop, which will be in Amble, Northumberland. Owner Nicola Park, pictured below with her partner Barry Coatman, picked up the keys to the former sweet shop on Saturday, just one day after opening the chain’s 11th store, in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

Seaside has begun recruiting for five new members of staff for the Amble store, which is due to open next month.
