A Not Just Travel agent and her well-travelled friend have launched a Facebook group, called No Stopping Her, for solo women travellers.
Gilly Bachelor, pictured left, said she and her pal Katrina Lowes, on the right, are hoping to create a community to support women travelling on their own.
In addition to the Facebook group, they have launched a website, called No Stopping Her Travel, and they will host free webinars to ‘look at the barriers to travelling solo and how to overcome them’.
The webinars will also provide inspiration around destinations, cruises and tours, and Gilly and Katrina plan to create some podcasts.
Gilly will offer to book holidays for members of the No Stopping Her community via her Not Just Travel homeworking business, which operates under her own name.
“I’d love to support and inspire women with No Stopping Her that then come on to book with us, but of course they’re free to book anywhere,” said Gilly.
“My existing travel business has been going for six years and I’ve helped lots of women, but I’ve also come across a lot more that are waiting for friends and family members to join them but the trips never happen, I’m hoping the focus that No Stopping Her brings will help overcome this.”
Gilly’s clients have access to an app that provides their itinerary, travel documents, real-time updates, and a chat function for ongoing communication.
They also have a 24/7 emergency contact number, access to an arrival contact service to ensure someone is aware of their location within 24 hours of arrival, and they can choose to have a video meeting or a ‘virtual dinner date’ if dining solo for the first time.
“Our mission is to educate, support, and inspire women to explore solo travel through a nurturing community, online and in-person events, and bespoke travel services delivered through my partnership with Not Just Travel,” added Gilly.
She said Katrina, a friend of Gilly’s for 25 years and a client for five years, was the driver behind No Stopping Her as she believes there is a genuine demand for its services among her contacts
“Katrina’s role is pivotal as she’s been travelling solo for 30 years and she has amazing insights, tips and laugh-out-loud stories to share which will be key content for our webinars and podcasts,” added Gilly.
“She’s also very well connected within London marketing communities, which are well-populated with women who are coming to the end of their professional corporate careers and looking to travel more but aren’t sure where to start.
“Our mission is to educate, support, and inspire women to explore solo travel through a nurturing community, online and in-person events, and bespoke travel services delivered through my partnership with Not Just Travel.”
No Stopping Her’s first webinar will be on 28 January at 6pm.
