ABTA is urging members to check its updated advice on pricing guidance issued by the Competition and Markets Authority.
The CMA has made it clear it will take enforcement action against any company that doesn’t include mandatory fees and charges payable at hotels, ports or airports.
ABTA warned this has ‘potentially extremely serious consequences’ for those companies which have not ‘taken appropriate steps’.
ABTA Senior Solicitor Paula Macfarlane said: “Although we are aware that many of our members are taking steps to comply with the amended CMA pricing guidance, it is extremely important that everyone takes the time to review their pricing structures to ensure they are not potentially in breach.
“To help members with this process, we have published our latest guidance note, which is now available on our website exclusively to ABTA members. The note summarises the issue and pulls together ABTA’s news and guidance issued to date.
“ABTA remains in contact with the CMA, and we have asked them for clarification over a couple of areas, which we will update when this has been received.”
