Aberdeen airport strike suspended

Security staff at Aberdeen International Airport have suspended a planned strike following a last-minute improved pay offer.

Members of the Unite union, who make up the majority of the baggage screening team at the airport, had been planning 14 days of industrial action throughout July and August.

However, Unite said that the strike had been suspended to allow members to vote on the new pay offer from the employer, ICTS HBS Security.

Unite industrial officer Paula Buchan said: “This offer should have been made available earlier rather than the last minute. Our members have shown determination throughout this dispute and the improved offer has only come about because they have stood firm and refused to back down.”
