Virgin Voyages trade push reaches 1,000 agents in first month of year

Virgin Voyages says it connected with more than 1,000 UK agents during January.

The UK sales team has visited 101 stores and hosted a mix of head-office takeover days and in-person training sessions.

The line said agent revenue per cruising day is up 25% year-on-year, and the average selling value of each cruise is up 18% year-on-year.

In terms of destinations, the Caribbean now represents 42% of all UK trade bookings, compared to 21% at the same point last year.

UK Director of Sales SJ Walker said: “January has been all about showing up for the trade – in store, at head offices and face to face with First Mates across the UK. Reaching more than 1,000 agents in a single month is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. Just as importantly, the quality of bookings coming through is rising, with longer sailings and higher-value trips becoming the norm. That’s good news for our First Mates, good news for Sailors and a strong signal for the year ahead.”

Additionally, in January, 65% of agents working with Virgin Voyages applied the line’s ‘First Mate Loot Incentive’ to bookings. Agents earn £30 per booking, which is six times the standard £5 across all Virgin Voyages cruises on sale until 2027.

The incentive has been offered alongside its ‘Bring on Bimini’ fam trip incentive with Virgin Atlantic, which gives agents the chance to win a place on a cruise to the Caribbean.

Agents who make a booking will be entered into a prize draw to win one 10 places on a seven-night fam trip on Resilient Lady on 11 April.

Both incentives run until 26 February.
