Construction has started on a new cruise terminal in St Kitts, which will be used by P&O Cruises next year.
The new facility, in Port Zante, is being developed ahead of P&O Cruises launching Caribbean fly/cruise itineraries from St Kitts in November 2027, with Iona and Arvia set to operate sailings that start and end in Basseterre.
St Kitts will become an additional turnaround port for Iona, expanding P&O Cruises’ Caribbean programme.
The terminal will include upgraded security screening and immigration systems to support passengers embarking and disembarking in St Kitts.
Carnival UK and P&O Cruises President Paul Ludlow said the investment marked an important step: “This milestone reinforces the destination’s growing importance within the Caribbean cruise sector and its commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our guests.”
St Kitts is accessible from London Gatwick with twice-weekly direct British Airways flights, and welcomed more than 950,000 cruise passengers this season.
Speaking at the official groundbreaking ceremony, St Kitts Minister of Tourism Marsha Henderson said: “This groundbreaking represents months of dedication, finally taking physical shape.
“The ceremony represents our determination to invest in infrastructure that strengthens our economy, creates new opportunities for our people, and enhances the competitiveness of St. Kitts and Nevis within the global cruise industry.”
