Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled the last planned sailing for Norwegian Sky before the ship leaves the fleet, according to Cruise Hive.
The ship was originally due to depart from Athens on 9 September for a 21-day repositioning cruise to Dubai, but this was shortened to 18 days to end in Muscat, Oman (pictured) to avoid the Persian Gulf.
However, it has now been cancelled and guests will receive a refund and 50% future cruise credits as compensation for the change, said Cruise Hive.
In an email sent to guests, the cruise line said: “Given the ongoing uncertainty in the region, we no longer have the level of confidence needed to deliver the experience you expect and deserve.
“While this was a difficult decision, the safety and well-being of our guests and crew guided every step of the process, and we believe it is the right one.”
The future cruise credit may be used for any published NCL sailing until 31 December 2027.
Norwegian Sky is joining Cordelia Cruises, a small cruise line based in India, on a long-term charter.
