Fred. Olsen unveils Amazon and Antarctica Grand Voyage for 2028

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has launched an 87-night Amazon and Antarctica Grand Voyage for 2028, the only UK sailing to combine both destinations.

Borealis will depart Southampton on 5 January 2028 on a round-trip itinerary covering 28 ports across 17 countries and five continents. The cruise goes on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, 22 July).

The voyage begins in the Canary Islands before crossing to the Caribbean and Central America, followed by an extended Amazon River sailing, including Santarém and an overnight in Manaus, marking the line’s first return to the Amazon in nine years.

It then continues along Brazil’s coast with an overnight in Rio de Janeiro, before heading south via Argentina and Chile, rounding Cape Horn and crossing the Drake Passage for three days of scenic cruising in the Antarctic Peninsula.

The return leg includes the Falkland Islands, Uruguay and an overnight in Buenos Aires, before sailing north via Brazil and Cape Verde back to Southampton via the Canary Islands and Spain.

Prices start from £10,999 per person.

Bookings made by 19 August 2026 qualify for the line’s Freedom Fare Price Promise, guaranteeing prices will not fall within the first four weeks of sale, with selected cabins also available with no single supplement.

Head of Product Innovation Martin Lister said: “This is an incredible journey, carefully crafted to bring together some of the world’s most extraordinary places on one round-trip sailing from the UK.

“This is our first return to the Amazon for nine years, and has been designed to offer something truly distinctive, with scenic cruising along one of the world’s greatest rivers, bringing guests closer to the rainforest and its diverse wildlife, from colourful birdlife to pink river dolphins.

“In contrast, Antarctica offers the chance to experience a region few ever visit, with three days of scenic cruising past ice-strewn waters, vast glaciers and snow-capped peaks.

“Combined with time in some of South America’s most iconic cities and across the Caribbean, this is a journey designed to offer both depth and variety, with memorable experiences throughout.”
