Amadeus to debut hybrid river ship on Douro in 2028

Amadeus River Cruises is to launch a new hybrid river ship, Amadeus Douro, on the Douro in 2028, sailing between March and November.

Purpose-built to navigate the Douro’s winding passages and locks, Amadeus Douro will accommodate 111 guests in 54 staterooms and two suites, most of which will have drop-down panoramic windows or private balconies.

The ship will also have an expansive open sun deck with a swimming pool, lounge area and bar or the Café Vienna, a social space on board Amadeus ships.

The ship will operate a collection of itineraries along the Douro, including round-trip journeys from Porto that will explore the wine-producing region stretching toward the Spanish border.

Amadeus River Cruises Head of Sales Corina Lueftner said: “The Douro Valley has become an increasingly popular destination, and with Amadeus Douro we are excited to offer our partners and guests a truly immersive way to explore its extraordinary scenery, wine heritage and historic towns.”
