Competition Terms and Conditions

These standard terms apply to competitions promoted on the Travel Gossip website. Each competition also has its own entry details and, where relevant, prize-supplier terms. Read those before entering.

1. PROMOTER AND COMPETITION-SPECIFIC TERMS

The promoter is Travel Gossip Limited (company number 08585949) (“Travel Gossip”, “we”, “us”). The competition page or entry form sets out the specific rules, including how to enter, the closing date, the prize, any eligibility restrictions and how the winner will be selected.

These standard terms apply alongside those details. The competition-specific terms take priority where they set a different rule for that competition. The prize supplier’s terms apply to redeeming or using the prize, as explained on the competition page. By entering, you agree to the terms that apply to that competition.

2. WHO CAN ENTER

Unless the competition page says otherwise, entry is open to UK residents aged 18 or over who currently work as travel agents. Employees of Travel Gossip, the prize supplier or any organisation directly involved in running the competition, and their immediate families, may not enter. Any additional age, location or other restrictions will be stated on the competition page.

We may ask for reasonable proof of age, identity, residence or travel-trade employment. If you need your employer’s permission to enter or accept a prize, you are responsible for obtaining it.

3. HOW TO ENTER

Enter using the method and by the deadline shown on the competition page. The stated closing time is UK time. Entry limits and any qualifying action, such as answering a question or completing training, will be shown there. Unless stated otherwise, one entry per person is allowed.

Entries must be submitted by the entrant, with accurate details. Automated, bulk or third-party entries, and entries made using false details or in breach of the rules, may be disqualified. We cannot accept late or incomplete entries. We will take reasonable steps to deal fairly with a technical problem that affects entry.

4. SELECTING AND CONTACTING WINNERS

Winners will be selected by the method stated on the competition page. For a prize draw, we will use a verifiably random process or an independent observer. For a judged competition, the page will explain the judging method and criteria; the judges’ decision is final, subject to your right to raise a concern about how the competition was run.

Unless stated otherwise, we will contact the winner by email within 14 days of the closing date. The winner must reply within seven days of our message and provide any reasonable information needed to verify eligibility or arrange the prize. We will make reasonable attempts to contact them. If the winner does not respond in time, declines the prize or is ineligible, we may select a replacement using the same method.

5. THE PRIZE

The prize and any important restrictions or exclusions will be described on the competition page. Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative unless stated otherwise. Prizes will normally be awarded within 30 days of the closing date, unless the competition page explains a different timetable.

If circumstances beyond our reasonable control make the advertised prize unavailable, we may offer a reasonable equivalent. For travel or experience prizes, the competition page will state the relevant dates, booking conditions, availability, exclusions and any compulsory costs. Unless expressly included, winners are responsible for passports, visas, insurance, transfers and personal expenses.

6. CHANGES OR CANCELLATION

We will only change or cancel a competition in exceptional circumstances where it is necessary. We will act fairly, explain any material change and tell entrants how to find the updated terms. We will not change a closing date or other condition simply because too few entries have been received.

7. PERSONAL INFORMATION AND WINNER PUBLICITY

We use your information to administer the competition, check eligibility, contact winners and arrange prizes. We will share information with the prize supplier or service providers only as explained in the competition entry information and our privacy policy. Entering a competition does not, by itself, sign you up to partner marketing. Any marketing use or sharing will be explained separately, with consent obtained where required by law.

To confirm that prizes have been awarded, we will make the winner’s surname and company, and where relevant their winning entry, available on request for two months after the closing date. You may object or ask us to disclose less information by emailing [email protected]; we will consider your request, although we may still need to provide information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required. Any request for a photograph, interview or other publicity is optional and will not affect your prize.

8. RESPONSIBILITY

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, or affects your statutory rights. The prize supplier may be responsible for delivering or providing the prize, as explained in the competition details.
